Faithful & Agile

 There are 2 words it seems to me that should characterise the Church, in any age, but especially in this season, where the Covid-19 crises still impacts how we operate: faithful  and agile. Faithful to Christ and the gospel. Sounds obvious, but not " tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming" (Eph 4:14). Not knocked off course by political upheaval, "me" centred teaching or the spirit of the age. Agile in that we are adaptable. Willing to change our methods, to contextualise, to be missional. Not bound to the old ways of doing things, looking back. Seeking to see how to speak and be good news in a networked, digitally-focused era, but being willing to be analogue too. If there is one thing to be learnt from 2020 is that it's good to plan, but we need to be flexible, to pivot. Or as the writer of Proverbs put it: " In their hearts humans plan
